Discovering Autographed Hockey Products
One of the greatest things about sports is getting an autograph from your favorite player. Fans love owning merchandise that has been touched by their heroes. This passion for sports memorabilia has caused the price to soar. Some pieces of memorabilia can cost over $1000 dollars just because of whose signature is on it.
Seriously, I saw an autographed Wayne Gretzky jersey on sale for $1500 dollars. There were like 90 of them in stock too, just imagine how much money the company made off that. The hard part about buying autographed hockey merchandise is figuring out if its actually real. Authenticity is the biggest thing that people worry about when they’re getting merchandise.
There was a story about a guy a few years ago that bought a forged autograph for around $700 dollars. Once again, the autograph was forged and worthless. The man tried to resell the jersey for $1000 dollars only to find out that it was worth no more then $20. And, that was for the material that the jersey was made out of.
I’m sure that you knew all of this before you started reading this article, but I just want you to be super careful about where you buy from. I’m trying to show just how big of a deal credibility is in the field of autographed merchandise. You want a place that can guarantee authenticity.
The problem is that you usually have to pay more for the guaranteed authenticity. That’s definitely something you don’t want to do. Anyway, here are a couple of tips that you can use when you’re buying autographed merchandise.
1) Check to See if the Company can be Contacted
You don’t actually have to contact the company, just see if you can. By providing you contact details the company is providing you with a location to question all of them, and ensure that you’re not getting ripped off. Companies that don’t allow you to contact them will usually take your money and run.
2) Never Pay Somebody to Go Get an Autograph
What I mean, is that you shouldn’t pay somebody to go get an autograph from a celebrity. 9 times out of 10 it’s forged and you’ve wasted money.
Whose Signature or Autograph is this on my Budweiser/PRS Guitar?
