Were the Yankees or Brooklyn Dodgers more popular with New Yorkers?

bward08, I think that may have been Phil Rizzuto if I remember correctly. Which is especially funny because he later played for the Yankees.

Anyways, it depended on where you lived as well. The Dodgers were huge in the burough of Brooklyn, at the time full of poor, blue-collar workers and their families. The Yankees were popular most other parts of the city, mainly with the wealthy class. But you can’t forget about the Giants.
