Did Cale Yarborough and the Allison brothers get fined by NASCAR after the 1979 Daytona 500?
I know fighting drivers are what all NASCAR fans would like to see more of, whether they’ll admit it or not. NASCAR proclaimed at the beginning of the 2010 season, “Boys, have at it!”. Just when we got a good driver fight, between Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, NASCAR slapped them with a $25,000 fine each and 4 weeks probation.
So my question is: Did they give Cale, Bobby, and Donnie the same punishment after the 1979 Daytona 500 that made NASCAR so famous?
The fine was $5000 each( I believe only to Bobby and Cale as the main participants), and Cale maintains that they should pay back ten-fold for promotional considerations.
I guess that was a lot of money in ’79.
