Heat stroke is a different problem, a combination of dehydration and high ambient temperature caused. In this situation, the body temperature rises due to failure of the body’s self-regulatory systems, and the skin is dry and hot, and confusion, shock and death may follow. This is essentially never the case with fever from illness.

Treatment of fever should be focused on making the febrile patient comfortable, and not on attaining normal body temperature.  There is no evidence that the treatment of fever shortened disease, prevent complications or are important for reasons other than convenience.
