Is it normal for a baby to say a word once and not say it again?
Was wondering because there a lot of words that Jordan has said once, then never again. When he did say them they were plain as day, like if you or me had said them and not muddled like baby talk can be.
Some of the words that he only sid once are:
Spongebob, milk, watermelon, Carlton, Amber, leaving, lawnmower, and swimming
Is it normal, or could this be a sign on speech delay?
Thanks~
Totally normal. Remember how much their little brains are soaking in every day. Sometimes it seems like they learn a skill and then ‘forget’ it, but really, they’re just onto the next thing.
My little one does this with not just talking, but she waved for awhile, then stopped, then took her first steps, then nothing for a couple of weeks, said ‘mama’ from when she was 6 months, then completely forgot how when she learned ‘dada’ at 8 months. She started saying it again after a few weeks.
My mum (to 3 kids, and a nanny for 30 years) says this is really common, and doesn’t indicate a problem. (I was worried at first when my little one would seem to ‘forget’)
