Adjacent  to Town Lake is Lake Travis, the fifth lake in the series of Highland Lakes all along the Colorado River.   One of the principal  lakes near Austin, Lake Travis encompasses roughly 19,000 acres.  The maximum depth is 190 feet.  The shore is varied  and consists of chunk rock, steep cliffs, docks, marinas and flooded brush.  Depending on where you are in the lake you might  hit upon the water clear (typical of a highland reservoir) or tainted (like a flatland type impoundment).  Many different  creeks go into the lake and these are principal spots for bass fishing.  A recommended fishing guide service at Lake Travis is  Bassman Guide Service.  You can contact the owner, Robert Brown, for further information,  at 1-512-632-6088.
