Why doesnt Joe Girardi utilize Curtis Granderson at the lead-off position?

Why is batting all the way down at 7th when he is a threat with the bat? Put him at lead off so he can hit triples and the meat of the Yankee line-up can drive him in. Makes no sense to bat him in behind slow Posada.

Simple: He strikes out too much and doesn’t hit for avg. You really don’t want a leadoff hitter with a .247avg and .314 obp as your everyday leadoff hitter. Granderson is a career .265 avg with .341OBP, at one point in his career he was counted on to leadoff, but the last few years his numbers have tailed off.
