NFL veterans got answers?
Otto Graham, Johnny Unitus, Joe Namath, Jim Brown, Paul Brown! for the people who got to watch these guys play and coach is a dream i’d love to come true. Im only 13 and I love watching these 40′s and 50′s games just as much as recent games. My question is was it worth going to those games and watching those players play? watching the games in the sheer cold freezing your butts off just to watch Otto Graham throw a touchdown to Dante Lavelli? Or to watch Jim Brown pile it in the Endzone? in my point of view that was football I have wanted to see play and go back in time to see Namath upset the Colts or to watch Papa Bear and the true monsters of the midway play. This is a question for the veterans way back.
Yes, it was certainly worth it. This is mainly due to the fact that there was not a huge television contract at the time, and if you wanted to watch your favorite team, you traveled to their stadiums on Sundays. It’s true most of the stadiums those players played in do not have the amenities that todays stadiums offer. However, you were more interested in the game and beer or hot chocolate was only 50 cents, not 5 dollars a cup.
