Have A Look At How The Bulova Watches Company Was Started
The beginning of the Bulova watch Company began with a man named Joseph Bulova. Joseph was 23 years old when he traveled from Bohemia to New York City. In New York City, Joseph opened his own jewelry shop in 1875. By 1911, Bulova acquired his first plant, which was dedicated to the manufacture of watch components. The watches were assembled into jeweled movements in Bienne, Switzerland.
World War I soldiers took an interest in Bulova timepieces during 1919. The devices became useful for the soldiers. Jeweled wristwatches for men also came into play during 1919. Four years later, in 1923, Joseph finalized his corporation with the title of the Bulova Watch Company, Inc. The devices were then standardized with ten thousandth of an inch precision. During the next year, a line of feminine timepieces was brought out. Diamond accented pieces became a part of these watches.
The years of 1926, 1927 and 1928 were big for Bulova. The Bulova Company was the first to broadcast a radio commercial to the entire nation and they also brought the first clock radio to the world. In 1941, the 1st television commercial was aired by Bulova. During World War Two, the American government and Bulova worked together in order to support the armed forces with specially made timepieces, and advanced technology for airplanes, and watches, as well as torpedo mechanisms and fuses.
In early 1960, the Bulova Watch Company announced their biggest claim of fame to the world: the Accutron. This special device was constructed using tuning fork technology. The Accutron was able to accurately track time better than anything else that had been introduced. NASA often brought the technology along on flights, such as the Apollo expedition. The Accutron also became a favorite among Air Force One in 1967.
During 1968, the Satellite Clock by Bulova was introduced. This clock went on to become the 1st public clock in the world that displayed time using signals from orbiting satellites. Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, the President of Mexico, had it installed in Torre Latino Americana, the highest skyscraper in Mexico. Also, Caravelle became the largest selling watch with jeweled movements within the US in 1968.
Bulova was announced the main supplier of men’s fashion watches for the US Olympic Team during 1987. Both the Calgary winter games and the Seoul summer games had players that were supplied with Bulova devices. Bulova continued to expand across the world, reaching to South America and signing a distribution agreement with them in 1995. The Far East and Europe signed licenses with Bulova.
During 2000, Bulova and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani celebrated their 125th anniversary. The following year, the company acquired the Wittnauer trademark as well as the Harley-Davidson watch licenses. During a survey in 2001, women were asked which brand they thought had luxurious accessories and apparel; Bulova was in the fourteenth spot.
In 2002, Bulova gained assets of Heirloom. Throughout this year, grandfather clocks were selling in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Also, with their opening of a European headquarter in Fribourg, Switzerland, Bulova was able to produce the Bulova European Collection and release it on January 1, 2003.
As I’m sure you already know, Bulova mens watches are very functional and classy at the same time. They have provided much use since their creation and will most likely continue to satisfy the time needs of everyone throughout the world.
