Dion Phaneuf

Dion Phaneuf
Mike Cammalleri or Phil Kessel? Dion Phaneuf or Nik Kronwall?

Who would you rather have?
LOL @ the dumb HOMER answers!

I would have to say after last season that Cammalleri and Kronwall are better, more effective hockey players than the other two. Cammalleri is a fast, skilled, mature player with great vision and makes teammates better. He is great on the power-play and has superb chemistry with Plekanec. Keep in mind he is entering his prime and a few years older than Kessel. It is quite possible that at Cammalleri’s current age, Kessel can be more dominant, but only time will tell. As for the debate on defense, Kronwall is on a much better team and is coming off more productive seasons than Phaneuf. Would he be as impactful on the second last team in the NHL? Absolutely not. Phaneuf has the skill-set, offensive upside and sheer size/strength to leap over Kronwall but until the Leafs improve significantly and form some cohesion as a team, Kessel and Phaneuf are only representations of what could be and not necessarily what they are right now. In conclusion, Cammalleri and Kronwall are better right now, but in time this definitely has the possibility of changing.
