What will Don Shula and Mercury Morris do with all that champagne when the Pats go 19-0?
I guess they’ll get drunk and drown their sorrows, those bitter old geezers.
They will probably make several phone calls to the other members of the 1972 Dolphins, and realize that they’ve enjoyed their last moment in the spotlight. They will sit home alone watching the game, and drink the chilled champagne they’ve been buying every year since their perfect season.
Then they will pass out in their favorite recliners, and wet themselves in their blue and orange Depends.
When they wake up Monday morning, they’ll jump in their cars and go for a long drive and think back to the good old days, all the while unknowingly leaving their turn signals on.
RIP, grumpy old dudes.
