Face Signed

Isn’t it a slap in the face of christians to have the healthcare reform bill signed on a Sunday?
God said that Sunday is a day of rest. Is there no respect left in this world.
I did not say that I am against health care and I agree with the churches! I SAID signing the bill on SUNDAY, I think is wrong. Now go back and ask your pastor or preacher what HE thinks.
I know what you mean – that’s why true Christians never play football or baseball on Sunday. Only heathens would exert themselves in athletic competition on the day of rest. I believe it’s sinful even to watch auto racing or sports on Sunday!
What would Jesus think of health care coverage for every citizen?
Would Jesus consider it sinful? Did Jesus think every man should pull himself up by his own boot straps?
Catholic hospitals endorse health care reform bill

“On behalf of the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA), the national leadership organization of more than 2,000 Catholic health care sponsors, systems, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and related organizations, I am writing to urge you to move quickly to enact health reform by passing the Senate-approved legislation in conjunction with a second “corrections” bill providing for necessary legislative fixes that will improve the overall package.”

Catholic, Lutheran bishops call for health care reform
http://fresnobeehive.com/opinion/2009/11/catholic_lutheran_bishops_call.html
“As Congress debates the final version of health care reform in America, our representatives must remember the central teaching of the Bible and the world’s major religions; we are our brother’s keeper, called to protect the life and dignity of all.
Jesus lived this, reaching out to all people, especially the needy, as in Matthew 25, where he identifies with the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger and the sick. This is our moral compass. We pursue justice for the vulnerable and the most needy because it is right.
In providing health care, we have shifted from this fundamental principle. Our current broken system allows profit and economic status to define who lives and who dies, who gets that life-saving procedure or drug and who does not, who gets preventive care and who goes to the emergency room with a life-threatening condition.”
So in answer to your question, no, I think Christians welcome health care reform.
