how much is the 1984 fleer baseball updates worth?
Unfortunanetly for you it used to go as high as $800+ sealed in the factory box. Now however it’s plummeted back to earth. The Gooden lost a ton of it’s value when he got into drug problems and became a guy just trying to hold a job and blew any HOF aspirations, Puckett has basically held value but aside from his Spike in price around the HOF induction hasn’t moved significantly. The Clemens was the key card but now that’s heading down and will likely drop some more. Right now is actually a good time to buy the set more so than sell it, but considering Clemens may tank the book value even more you might have no choice but move it if you need the money. My dad had a card/stamp shop back in the 80′s and I still have 7 of these sealed today (and 1 in pages) he kept aside and I regret not dumping them back in the early 90′s. I thought it would always go up and held out so long I took a beating. Kinda like all those Strawberry rookies I had…. I recently saw one on ebay after the hearings when I thought of listing a couple that was only at about $175 when I quit watching it. Long term collectors know how hard it is to get as another respondant pointed out, but casual colectors are passing them by. You’ll get better value in trade, but don’t break it up and piece it off, you’ll get killed on it. Good luck moving it. Check it on ebay- maybe try listing it with a reserve so you don’t get stuck if it goes too low. You might get lucky and haul in something decent and the cost for listing won’t kill you or anything.
