Are mats that come with frames always assumed to be acid free?

I have an animation production cel and I framed and matted it myself from a frame and mat I found at walmart. Everything I have read about framing cels say to use an acid free mat, but I couldn’t find any mats that specifically say acid free (or safe for photos…or anything really). Will the cel be okay? Should I try to find another mat somewhere else?
