Who of these retired major leaguers will one day end up in the Hall of Fame ?

Roberto Alomar, Kevin Appier, Rod Beck, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Shane Reynolds, Robin Ventura, Todd Zeile.

They are new to the ballot for 2010, and please support your answers with facts. Thanks……..

I haven’t given detailed consideration to any of these men yet (with one exception), but the only ones with a real chance at the Hall are Alomar, Larkin, Martinez, and McGriff. Alomar is the best of the lot, and I do expect he will be elected, second ballot.

The exception is Beck, who has already been on the ballot. He received accelerated consideration due to expiring before the five year standard waiting period had done so. Beck died in June 2007, was placed on the 2008 ballot, and received only two votes. That’s about what I expected.
