is it wise to mail a self-addressed postage paid envelope empty?

i do this often especially the envelopes from banks hawking credit cards. my reasoning is it helps the post office employees. like most government employees they are not capable of doing anything productive and need all the help they can get.

While the US Postal system…..like most of our other government programs is economically deficient and wasteful…..9 billion dollars in the red…. BUT it is the best in the world….. I have lived in several countries and the postal systems around the world are much worse….. I currently live in a country where it takes a week for a letter to travel 100 miles…..if it gets there at all……a letter to America takes ten to twelve days…. many letters and packages never arrive…. one package took two months

Actually your “help” contributes to the debt of the postal system….. most postal employees are extremely hard working….. under not the best conditions…..with a heavy dose of stress….. they deserve our support not our disdain or abuse
