You can write articles and submit them to article directories and you can write press releases. You can use press release to drive traffic aswell as getting backlinks.

Blog commenting is another popular method to get backlinks. There are softwares you can use to do this but I cant recommend that because automatic blog commenting is close to spam. Write relevant comments and don’t use words like: I like your post, good article, will be back for more etc. Write a comment abot the article you just read. And I am sure the webmaster will approve your comment.
