Why isn’t Dave Parker in the Baseball HOF his numbers easily match up with other HOFers?

I have argued this point for many years. Yes, his offensive number compare favorably with several peers already in the hall. He drugs problem was a big issue during his playing days. Many BBWAA members were unable to let it go. That’s their problem but unfortunately it became Parker’s problem when it came to voting.

The one element of Parkers game that stood out far above his contemporaries was his defense. Parker was perhaps one of the most underrated outfielders of his day. He was a superb defensive player with one of the truly great arms of his generation. I personally have championed his election into the hall. He belongs in Cooperstown and hopefully one day he will be elected.
