Is Jarrod Saltalamacchia a good option behind the plate for the Red Sox?
With all the interest Victor is getting, I doubt he’ll be back next year with the Sox.
@Chet Salty is already on the Sox.
Salty has a lot of potential the problem is if he can stay healthy. He will probably be a better catcher defensively and would be a good option to put up against teams such as Texas and Tampa Bay who rely heavily on stealing and aggressive base running. I doubt he will have batting stats like Victor does catchers with those kind of batting stats are RARE.
While Victor has great batting his defensive skills do lack. Remember how many stolen bases the red sox had in the beginning of the season? It was terrible.
I would honestly rather see Beltre back and pick up Crawford. Crawford and Elesberry would be a strain on opposing pitching staff both can steal bases at will. Strained pitching equals errors errors equal extra hits and home runs. 
They could also potentially slot Crawford just ahead of Ortiz and make it difficult for teams to put the “shift on” on Ortiz if you got a guy who can potentially steal third you’ve got have someone near it to cover it. That would probably help prevent a lot of double plays and increase Ortiz BA.
But what kind of catcher Salty turns into is going to depend on his ability to stay healthy. If the Sox don’t sign Victor I’d bet Tek gets another year with the Sox.
