Jerry Reuss??
Was he truly an extraordinary drag bunter?
This one caught me a bit off-guard but a recent Baseball Digest article suggested that Ruess just may have been the most prolific drag bunter of all time.
Apparently opposing 2nd basemen would be kept up at night for fear that Jerry might lay one down the next day if there was nobody on base.
Surely I would have thought about Lou Brock or a guy like Willie Wilson, but the article pointed directly towards Reuss.
Can anybody confirm this?
Ya know, I never saw him in drag. As his name suggests, however, he always drove a Bentley. The other old time RollsRoyce product.
