To hyphenate last name or not?
My wife and I have different last names so we are going to give our son both mine(only the first one I have mothers than fathers) first than hers. He will have the same first name and middle names a me. Even though he will technically have a different last name than me we are calling him the second. I have both my parents names legally but I only go by my mom’s which is the first one, and do not have a hyphen. So the question is should we hyphenate his name or just do the two like what I have? We live in Buckhead Atlanta Georgia if that makes a difference.
Example
Me: Joe Bob John Smith Jones I
First Middle Last
Wife: Jane Marie Schmidt
Son: Joe Bob John Smith Schmidt II
Don’t hyphenate it… the name is going to get very long, and could potentially lead to screw ups on documents (it’s happened to me a lot). Have you considered knocking off the middle name and making it just “Joe Smith Schmidt”?
