John Cappelletti
top 3 greatest college fb moments?

I watch all these college football shows and videos and was waondering what some of your “greatest moments were”. It doesnt have to be on the field either, I’ve included one great moment that wasn’t on the field.
3-Though not celebrated, I think Katzenmeyers hit on Berlin in the 2001 BCS championship was off the charts! Berlin gets up takes two or three steps and collapses, you cant be or have been a linebacker and not screamed at that one!
2-John Cappelletti’s Heisman speech. The youngsters are like “who”? Google the speech and you’ll understand. We need more humble athletes like him today.
1- Cleche’ but how do you not say Fluties “Hail Mary”. everythig was perfect to make this #1, a mega underdog, a small unacclaimed qb, the good students against the convicts and the students won. That highlight will never die, and it shouldn’t

-1965 Texas A&M halfback pass for a touchdown against Texas (a trick play which I believe the officials on the field were tipped off not to rule an incomplete pass) as the Texas A&M quarterback bounced a lateral to a Texas A&M halfback who then pretended that it was an incomplete pass and then the Texas A&M halfback threw a long bomb for a touchdown against the Texas led All American and 1965 Outland Trophy winner Tommy Nobis defense with Texas going into the locker room at half time behind Texas A&M by a score of 17-0 while playing on the road at Texas A&M. During the half time locker room speech Texas Head Coach Darrell Royal allegedly went up to the chalk board and wrote “21-17″ which as I recall was the actual final score as Texas scored 21 unanswered second half points.

-1967 Texas A&M quarterback Edd Hargett 11 yard touchdown scramble and run with no time left on the clock on a pass attempt to defeat Texas Tech.

-1967 Texas A&M quarterback Edd Hargett 80 yard bomb to Bob Long in a 10-7 victory over Texas.

-1969 with President Nixon, U.S. Senator Fullbright (D-AR), and U.S. Congressman G.H.W. Bush (R-TX) in attendance at Fayetteville, Arkansas, the undefeated Texas Longhorns (going into the game with a 9-0 record) came back from a 14-0 deficit to defeat the previously undefeated Arkansas Razorbacks (going into the game with an undefeated 9-0
record) when Texas Head Coach Darrell Royal who rarely had his team pass the ball called for a long bomb on a fourth down and three yards to go at the Texas 43 yard line late in the fourth quarter with Texas down by a score of 14-8 as Royal had called for a 2 point conversion on Texas’ first touchdown of the game. In the closing minutes of the game, Texas tight end Randy Peschel caught a long bomb from Texas quarterback James Street (father of baseball pitcher Houston Street) and fell down at the 13 yard line of Arkansas. Two plays later half back Jim Bertelsen scored on a touchdown run to tie the score at 14-14 in the closing minutes of the game. Texas’ Happy Feller kicked the game winning point after touchdown for Texas to win the “Big Shootout” 15-14 in December, 1969. Texas went on in January, 1970 to defeat Notre Dame in the Cotton Bown to claim the 1969 NCAA Football National championship.

On Oct. 23, 1971 USC 28 defeated No. 6 Notre Dame 14 at Notre Dame Stadium. The game was interrupted for 20 minutes as everyone on the field got involved in an on-field fight. When the game resumed, the Trojans proceeded to upset the sixth-ranked Irish 28-14.

On Nov. 30, 1974, #5 ranked Notre Dame jumped out to a first half lead of 24-0 over #6 ranked USC at the Coliseum. USC stormed back from a seemingly insurmountable 24-0 half time lead against #5 Notre Dame to win the game with the final score in “The Comeback” being: USC 55, ND 24.
USC trailed 24-0 late in the first half against the nation’s top-ranked defense. But with 10 seconds remaining before halftime, Anthony Davis scored on a 7-yard pass from Pat Haden. The two-point conversion failed, and the Trojans trailed 24-6 at the half. Davis took the opening kick of the second half 102 yards to open the floodgates for USC, which scored 35 points in the third quarter. Davis scored twice on short runs and Haden threw TD passes of 18 and 45 yards to Johnny McKay. Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, the Trojans scored twice more on a 16-yard pass from Haden to Shelton Diggs and a Charles Phillips’ 58-yard interception return for a touchdown.

-1976 Soon to be Texas Longhorns running back and leading rusher for the 1976 season, 17 year old high school graduate Johnny “Lam” Jones wins a Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics in Montreal being the only American to qualify for the 100 meter finals winning his Gold Medal on the 4 x 100 meter relay team.

-1977 Texas Longhorns Heisman Trophy winner and tail back Earl Campbell almost single handedly defeats highly ranked Texas A&M at Texas A&M where the point spread was even as I believe both teams were undefeated going into the final game of the season with Earl Campbell rushing for 222 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns at Texas A&M leading Texas to an 11-0-0 record.

-January 4, 2006 The undefeated Texas Longhorns led by quarterback Vince Young who almost personally defeats #1 ranked USC and Reggie Bush scoring a game winning touchdown and two point conversion at the end of the fourth quarter of the 2006 Rose Bowl for the BCS NCAA National Football championship.
