Lamotta Signed

Before Marcel Cerdan died in a tragic plane crash, he was signed to fight Jake LaMotta again?
Who do you think would have won had the rematch taken place?
Bluedevil ~
In my opinion Marcel’s shoulder injury had everything to do with the outcome of his fight with Jake. Marcel was in serious pain throughout the fight and it hampered his skills.
The biggest difference in the second fight would have been how much Jake ballooned up in between fights. Before his first fight with Marcel, Jake had to lose close to 30 pounds.
Jake would come out strong for the first 5 or 6 rounds and he probably would have hurt Cerdan a couple of times. Jake took nine more rounds to stop Marcel after dropping him in the first round of their first fight and that was with Marcel fighting basically one handed.
Marcel would work Jake’s body effectively and came upstairs nicely and had a really good work rate. Jake’s claim to fame was that you could beat him but you wouldn’t be able to knock him down or out. Jake really didn’t have savage power he was just durable. Marcel was the better boxer and would go on to win a 15 round unanimous decision.
Thanks for another good question Bluedevil.
