Has any of you ever gotten Wayne Gretzky’s autograph on the road?
I live in San Jose and the Phoenix Coyotes – the team that Gretzky coaches – is coming to town on the 29th. I was gonna try and see if I can get him to sign a puck for me as he leaves the morning skate the day of the game.
My question is has any of you ever tried to get Gretzky’s autograph while the Coyotes were on the road? If so, does he usually stop or is trying to get him not worth my time?

Wayne is usually polite with autograph seekers, especially kids and those who seem “unprepared” and only ask for a piece of paper to be signed. You are less likely to get attention if you appear to be a memorabilia dealer. Don’t expect him to strike up a conversation and he’s not not known for signing forever, but he will sign on the run.
There are also two versions of his autograph. Licensed memorabilia always has his recognizable autograph, where as his “on the run” version is less legible.
