Magazine Cover

When analysing a magazine cover, what elements and principles do I look for?
I have to analyse the front cover from the dark night version of EMPIRE magazine?
Any hints on what to look for? :S
if you’re talking from an aesthetic view, things like balance of light and dark, contrast between fonts and readability. You might be looking for a focal point and how that leads the eye through the cover. Unless you’re not analyzing it artistically. Then none of this probably matters.
