is it possible to set a HDD to master without using a jumper pin?

is it possible to use something apart from the jumper pin as I have lost the one it was supplied with. the model is Maxtor 6v200e0.

yes. most new hard drives/mother boards on the market are on CABLE SELECT, not jumper. just verify the settings in your systems setup or bios screen.
