All About The Postseason Journey Of LA Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to LA in 1958. Since then, they have won 14 titles including five World Championships and nine National League Pennants. Their postseason history has been quite exciting. Come along as we examine the different postseasons.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the National League Pennant on the second season of year 1959 and then proceeded to the World Series where they played against the Chicago White Sox both at home and abroad 6 times. Amazingly, the LA Dodgers won the World Championship on that season by winning against the Chicago White Sox 9-3 in the sixth game.
Los Angeles Dodgers played in the World Series and won the National League Pennant throughout the 1963 season. After which they proceeded to beat the Yankees to win the World Series with Sandy Koufax names as the Most Valuable Player.
In 1965, the LA Dodgers were able to secure the national league pennant that helped them proceed to the World Series. In the World Series, they fight against the Minnesota Twins and emerged as winners courtesy of Sandy Koufax. This was their third World Series that they won after they moved to Los Angeles.
In year 1966, the team won the National League Pennants after which they proceeded to the World Series and they were walloped by the Baltimore Orioles and couldn’t win the title this time.
In 1974, after a very long silent, the team won the National Western Division Title which then allowed the team to move on to play at the Championship Series. The team played against the Pittsburgh Pirates and won all 4 games and moved on to the World Series after getting the pennant but unluckily they were beaten by the two-time defending champion Oakland Athletics.
In 1977, the LA Dodgers won the Division Title to proceed to the championship series. In the championships, they played against the Philadelphia Phillies and won. They went on face the Yankees in the World Series and were beaten.
In 1978, LA Dodgers won the division, faced the Phillies in the championships and beat them again; however, in the World Series, the team lost again to the New York Yankees.
In 1981, the team beat Houston Astros and in the Division, they also beat the Montreal Expos and secure the Pennants in the Championships, and went ahead to beat the New York Yankees in the World Series.
In 1983, the Los Angeles Dodger’s team faced the Phillies in the Championships who beat them hands down.
In 1985, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the Divisions, played against the St. Louis Cardinals and were beaten.
In 1988, The Los Angeles Dodgers won the second divisions in 4 years, played against the New York Mets and won. Then they proceeded to play the Oakland A’s again in the World Series and won the title that year. Orel Hershiser won the Most Valuable Player Award that year.
In 1995, the team were beaten by the Cincinnati Reds at the National League Divisional Playoffs.
In 1996, they returned to the games as the National League Wild Card, but they were beaten soundly by the Atlanta Braves.
In 2004, the LA Dodgers were beaten in the Divisional Playoffs by the St. Louis Cardinals.
In 2006, they were beaten by the New York Mets after winning as the National League Wild Card.
In 2008, the team won the National League Western Division for beating the Chicago Cubs and for the first time in two decades, the team advanced to the Championship Series where they were beaten by the Phillies.
In 2009, the LA Dodgers had a very good season, making it all the way to the National League Championship series before being ousted by the Phillies. Actually the team has two budding young superstars in Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier and has a future staff ace in Clayton Kershaw. These admirable youngsters will be leaned upon heavily this season.
