Should the Montreal Canadiens retire Patrick Roy’s number after the way the team and player ended things?
Many fans are mixed about this, as Patrick Roy won Montreal their last two Stanley Cups..1986 and 1993, with average teams. They have been on a downward spiral since, so my thoughts are he deserves this recognition. Montreal always beats Boston, so its a really great opponent for us to honor this player come Saturday.
Absolutely. The only debate should be why wasn’t it retired earlier. You are correct, Roy won two Cups with Montreal with average teams. In fact he won the Con Smythe’s those years.
That incident happened soooo long ago. Everybody needs to be mature, get over it, and move on. Obviously Montreal and Roy are doing that. The dissenters need to follow suit.
