Relievers in the Hall?
Here’s a great article on the top ten stoppers of all time. I agree with all but Wagner (he’s the only 3 out stopper on there who hasn’t play a whole career like Hoffman or Rivera).
I think you can make a good argument for all these guys for the HOF especially with Sutter in, who in my opinion would be tenth on this list if even on it at all. But Henke is the most underrated reliever of all time and Quisenberry is another great one who – if Sutter is in, should be in.

Michael: Dave Stewart was a reliever for three years with the Dodgers, then was a starter – he won 4 20 game seasons. He’s not considered a reliever.
Also, Reardon definitely does NOT belong in the Hall and Smoltz will fall short as well.
And Franco has zero shot at being in the Hall. Great pitcher, great career ERA but not a HOFer – Hall of Good definitely.
Relievers in the Hall of Fame to this date:
Dennis Eckersley, Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers, Rich “Goose” Gossage and Hoyt Wilhelm.
Relievers that will make the Hall of Fame: John Smoltz, (well he did relieve earlier this decade so he would count) Mariano Rivera, and Trevor Hoffman.
Relievers that should make the Hall of Fame: Lee Smith.
Relievers that will probaly make the Hall of Fame need more time: Fransisco Rodriquez
You make great points about Henke, Quisenberry, also you could add Righetti, and Dave Stewart all were great but just didn’t have enough stats to make it. Being a Reliever its hard to make the Hall of Fame, these guys just didn’t have the stats, great players but missing some stats. Also watch out for John Franco he might make the HOF. I’m just putting the best Relievers (which it is hard to do because they arn’t very many good ones right now and in the past) who have a slim chance to make the HOF. I personaly don’t think John Franco will make it.
