How can I prove my elegibility to work in the UK without any photo ID?
I am a UK citizen born here and lived here all my life. I have had a passport in the past and a provisional drivers lisence. The passport has now expired and through moving over a few times in recent years I have now lost the expired passport and provisional lisence.
THE PROBLEM – I was made redundant several months ago and am now unfortunately on JSA. How can I prove my elegibility to work in the UK? how can I prove I am who I am? I am going to apply for a new provisional but this will take at least 2 weeks to come and I have to go into an agency next week to arrange an interview for my ideal job!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
also please do not waste your time and mine with stupid replies like you should have taken more care with the ID you had as I already know this.
Previous pay slips, P45s, P60s, national insurance card, birth certificate, etc.
The employer has a duty to check your eligibility to work, but they are not forced to only accept passport or driving license. In fact, as certain sections of society (eg the young) are less likely to have these documents, insisting on them could be viewed as discrimination.
