Do you wear a flag pin everyday?
Why is Obama being questioned as to why he doesn’t wear a flag pin when 90% of Americans don’t wear a flag pin including Hillary Clinton and John McCain?
This really ticks me off.
90%? I like your point, 90% is really to low, I never see anyone other than politicians wearing that lapel pin everyday. and if only 90% of Americans didn’t wear them, that would mean over 30 million amercans do wear them everyday I would guess that well over 99% of Americans don’t wear them everyday. But I digress
Let’s look at the history of the flag lapel pins. It all began during the Nixon impeachment hearings. Republicans wore them everywhere in hopes that people would see the American flags and look past that fact they were supporting people who commited crimes against our nation. You won’t find any one who wore the flag pin before that. The history of the pin really comes down to the old saying “patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels”. Who really wants that in a leader?
I don’t wear one and I haven’t since I left the military. I wore it then because the uniform and geneva conventions(I think it’ the geneva conventions required it) I’m proud of out flag, but I find wearing it is rather shallow.
