some ideas for an interesting self portrait photo for myspace??

everyone has a self portrait photo but they’re all very similar looking, does anyone have any ideas for a photo that would be interesting and different (eg poses, settings etc)
i’m absolutely stuck for ideas.

No! No mirrors! Though it can look neat… EVERYONE has that on myspace, no? Instead of a mirror you could try some other reflective surface… like a large steak knife… ornament, glass door, car door, earring, etc, etc

But it really depends on what you want to say about yourself… are you wild and crazy? Get a friend to help you take pictures of yourself jumping in midair…

Are you into nature? Take a picture of yourself in the forest or in a field… tripods are great for this as long as there’s no one around who’ll come along and steal your camera

Love animals or children? Take a picture with your dog or a friend’s dog or your small niece or nephew or whoever

Try using your profile… that’s something you don’t see that often. You could put your camera on a table, use the self-timer, and sit in front of a blank wall… or if you don’t have a blank wall you could use a large piece of solid-colored poster board.

CROP! take a picture of just your mouth, your eyes, the left side of your face, or even just your hand, that’s still a self portrait…

Experiment! Try lots of stuff. Go to lots of places. Look at famous portraitists… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Portrait_photographers

Go to barnes and noble and look at the photography section… there are tons of books on portraits and they can be very inspiring…
