Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Sadly, second editions of books are usually not more valuable than the 25th edition, or last edition. Only first editions really count in the rare book world. (There are always exceptions to the rules.)
Alibris.com is often a good source of pricing info on rare books. It shows the signed, first edition of this book available for $895 to $1100. Subsequent editions are available for $17 to $25.
Being signed by the author increases its value. However, being inscribed to “Tom” decreases it — because only someone named “Tom” can buy the book and pretend it was inscribed to them. The book would be worth more if it had only the author’s signature, or “Best Wishes” and a signature in it.
