The light middleweight; also known as the super welterweight and junior middleweight IBF or WBA and WBC, a weight division in professional boxing, over 147 pounds and up to 154 pounds (66.7 to 69.9 kg). The 29-year-old Matthew Hatton, the younger brother of former world champion Ricky Hatton, intensify welterweight having made two defenses for the European crown. Hatton who is expected to fight in California,The WBC belt was recently vacated by Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao.

Hatton has won 41 of his 47 professional fights since he was in 2000, while the undefeated Alvarez, 20, made 26 of his 35 victims since he turned professional at age 15. The last fight of Hatton was a third round stoppage of previously undefeated Swiss fighter Roberto Belge last November.

Matthew had just a handful of amateur fights before turning professional in September 2000. He has a record of 41 wins, four defeats and two draws. It is a nine-match unbeaten run and took the series championship on Europe @ 147lb in March last year, the former WBC world title challenger outpointing Gianluca Branco. In the first defense of Matthew he outpointed former WBA world champion Yuriy Nuzhnenko and in November became the first Swiss man to beat Roberto Belge – stop it in three rounds.

Saul Alvarez Barragan Santos (born July 18, 1990 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico) is a Mexican boxer in the welterweight division. Ranked No. 2 on the super welterweight in the WBC, it is the current WBC super welterweight champion silver. Saul is very popular and already a big attraction in the entire country of Mexico. It is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya Promotions Golden Boy. Considered by many analysts as a boxing welterweight top prospect and is believed to be the next great champion of Mexico.

Alvarez has successfully defended the world title unanimously against former world champion Lovemore N’dou Veracruz, Mexico. It’s been a competitive fight, despite wide margins of the official scorecard and 120-108 (twice) and 119-109. On March 5, 2011 Alvarez will fight EBU Welterweight champion Matthew Hatton, for the WBC Light Middleweight Championship.
