Who thinks Roger Maris Should be in the Hall of Fame?
He broke babe ruth’s homerun record, did it with out using steriods and they still didnt let him in
2 time MVP, .260 Batting average………
Maris definitely does NOT deserve to be in the HoF. It doesn’t matter that he held the single season HR record. He only had two seasons where his OPS was over .900. And given that those two seasons were consecutive (and one was his 61 HR yr), there’s the distinct possibility that he used whatever was akin to steroids at the time. Yes, they didn’t have synthesized sterols at the time, but maybe he drank goat testosterone or something.
And a .260 career BA is not something to brag about. (Heck! Even Ozzie Smith had a career BA higher than Maris!) In his best season, he hit .283. He didn’t do enough in the community (or on defense) to offset his palsy offensive numbers. So, no, Roger Maris most definitely should not be in the Hall of Fame.
