Sammy Baugh died last night. Do you appreciate the heritage?
There’s very little about him being mentioned on ESPN and the other sports channels and so on, and yet he was one of the pioneers of the passing game, and still holds punting records. He went back to 1938, when the Single Wing was the dominant formation. Doesn’t anyone understand how vital the tradition and the breakthrough players are and were? He literally made today’s game possible! And he was the LAST surviving charter member of the 1963 NFL Hall of Fame.
if you’re a fan of the NFL, then you should know who he is. I heard about his death from ESPN, so I think they are do their job regarding that.
Plus, since he JUST died, give the TV people time to put a package together celebrating Slingin’ Sammy’s life.
