2008 HOF Ballot – who would you vote in and why?

here’s this years list – if you could pick a max of 3, who would it be and why?

Of those players, this year I would put the most deserving in this order:

1.) Bert Blyleven — # 5 all-time strike outs, 280+ wins. No reason he shouldn’t have been voted in before now.

2.) Tim Raines — best stolen base to caught stealing in history. One of the speed icons.

3.) Tommy John — would have been a 300 game winner except he had to take time off to have a surgery named after him.

4.) Jim Rice — too dark for the town he played in — Boston. He towered over his peers in slugging when he played.

5.) Lee Smith — epitome of the closer. Had the all-time record for saves for 2 decades (or close).

6.) Jack Morris — most under rated pitcher of his day. Regular and post season giant.

7.) Goose Gossage — popularized the closer along with Sparky Lyle. An icon

It’s unrealistic to think more than those could be elected in, and I don’t suppose the chicken-headed writers will agree with me anyway.

Biggest names not even on the ballot: Ron Santo, Thurmon Munson, Roger Maris.
