Giant Company Is Created As Party Poker Merge Goes Ahead

 

PokerStars has been the giant of the online poker world ever since taking this position from Party Poker a few years ago. It would seem though that they may well have to take a step back from the poker room chain following the recent news of Party Poker’s merger.

PartyGaming, who are Party Poker’s parent company have recently announced to a merger with Bwin, the Austrian gambling site, and this will take place sometime during 2011. The companies have finally agreed the terms of the merger with Bwin getting 51.4% of the company while internet poker giant Party Poker will have a 48.36% stake of the firm.

Even more interesting about this collaboration is that the two companies will be able to pull their poker and gambling software resources together. Party Poker is the third largest online poker room in the world while Bwin also has a pretty large poker site. It could well be the case that the two sites could potentially become the biggest force in poker.

More excitement could be had though as both poker sites could soon be able to offer even better online poker deals than they have done before! Party Poker has a huge Million Dollar Guaranteed poker tournament while Bwin gives players the chance to participate in lots of freerolls and special sit and go tournaments.

Jim Ryan who is Party Poker CEO recently commented on the merger by saying “This is a transformational opportunity for both our companies to create the world’s largest listed online gaming business. The Enlarged Group will have a winning formula to exploit the growing online gaming market, supported by a strong balance sheet, significant cash flow generation and a highly experienced management team.”
