If I want a signed photo, do I send the photo?

I’m going to send a letter to my favourite actor hoping to recieve a signed photo (my friend recieved one). Do I need to send my photo of the actor, to get it signed (if it gets signed) or do I ask for one and they sign it?

No, you do not send the photo. If they have a good PR firm, the agents will advise the actor not to sign any photos sent in, but instead sign a photo from their stock. It would be a nightmare for the PR agent for the actor to sign a doctored photo without realizing it and then have some scandal arise. Ask your friend if the letter they sent to the actor said anything about a photo.
