Microsoft Access – How I can make fields auto populate based on one field?

Does anyone know how I can make fields autopopulate based on one field.
EX: Stududent Number is 1234 so access autopopulates that the student’s name is John Smith and hes in the 11 grade, etc. any help would be MUCH appreciated. THANKS

I don’t think you can do that with any database without using some sort of scripting language such as VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) or Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA), or an SQL language extension.

Some SQL databases such as Oracle, MySQL, and the free PostgreSQL have high-level SQL language extensions that support this sort of thing (loops, variables, and the like) built into the query language.

However, Microsoft does not supply VSTA with Office – $2000. I am Pretty sure Office 2003 Pro *does* come with VBA. which is a great reason to downgrade.
