How many boxing fans know that Sugar Ray Leonard ducked Aaron Pryor?

Sugar Ray was great but he knew not to get into the ring with this beast. Aaron Pryor although he wont be on any ones greatest fighter list should be known as a cat who had one of the greatest duck him.

I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT!!! Finally someone else who knew that Aaron “Hawk Time” Pryor would have destroyed Leonard in the ring. Leonard was a smart fighter and a true peoples champ. Good Lookin, Smart, Articulate and could do work in the ring but he hand picked his fighters! Aaron Pryor was like a small brown version of the incredible Hulk… the madder he got the stronger he got. Ask Alexis Arguello!! Bruce Lewis once said that it was rumored that Leonard moved up in weight class to avoid fighting Pryor. Leonard also knew that fighting Pryor would not draw the same bank roll and crowd as a Hagler-Leonard draw. Even though Leonard did not fight Hagler many years later… So how would that look? Leonard takes in less money AND losses the fight? Not in this life time! I remember watching a press conference with Leonard at the podium and Pryor who was in the audience stood up and interrupted by asking Leonard when he was going to give him a shot at the title? All eyes on Leonard and he replies, “sit down this is the Leonard show” ! Like Pryor, I wanted to know when he was going to give him or Hagler a shot at the title! Sorry to say that I disagree totally with anyone who tries to say that Leonard did not duck Aaron Pryor.
