Julius Erving
Does anyone out there remember Julius Erving and the impact he had on the NBA?

Julius Erving was playing for the New Jersey Nets in the ABA. In the early 70′s the ABA all-star game was broadcast nationally. Julius Erving, Dr J, was so impressive that the NBA wanted him so badly that they merged with the ABA. He played a new kind of basketball, the human high-lite film.

Michael Jordan may be the greatest player in history, but Dr. J paved the way for an entire new type of basketball.

I agree. Personally, I think the 3 players that have had the most impact on the game are Dr. J, Elgin Baylor and Michael Jordan.

Dr. J because he is pretty much the reason the ABA and NBA merged as well as turning the Slam Dunk into a true spectacle.
Elgin Baylor because he truly transformed the game into what it is today.
Michael for obvious reasons. He is the GOAT, did an amazing job of marketing the game and many young players are patterning their game after his. Without Michael there is no Kobe or Lebron.
