To be that prestigious 10 percent who are considered the sharks, among the thousands who flock to the casinos or the online rooms every day, is not that easy. This is a game where you need to rack your brain to the fullest, and is one card game that can get the hell out of anyone. Only the most intelligent and the imaginative ones survive and come to be known as the masters.

It is not enough that you get lucky at times and enjoy a few winning rounds for some time. It takes the consistent showcase of your skill and deftness as the few below did, almost every day when they sat at the table. They came to be known as the best poker players.

Phil Hellmuth: He is the man who proved to the poker world that you don’t need age to win at poker. He was only 24 when he landed the top prize at the Time WSOP, becoming the world champion and holds the nine-bracelets, equivalent to one gold medal record under his belt, apart from the big cash that was credited to his account. He is one of the successful poker authors who have several books like Bad Beats and Lucky Draws, Play like the Pros, to his name. He is also a featured testimonial writer at the Card Player magazine.

Daniel Negreanu: Though more popularly known as Kid Poker at the table, he is one of the masters at the game. Having 35 victories under his belt, he is the 2004 Times WSOP world champion and also tagged as the Card Player Magazine Player of the Year. He also won the prize of the 2004 Player of the Year Runner Up title. Now, he connects with the audience through a place on ESPN news and as a writer for the Canadian Saturday Night Magazine.

Antonio Esfandiari: He is professionally a magician but he is more popular for his magical tricks and the dance moves at the table, which got him the nickname, The Magician. He ended up first at LA Poker Classic No Limit Hold Championship, while appearing at 3 WPT final tables. He is practically one of the magical bad boys of the poker world whose talent was showcased in one of the Going All in Poker DVD set.

Gus Hansen: He hails from Copenhagen, Denmark and is known as the Great Dane, and sure he keeps up to his name. A lethal opponent as he is, he adopts a very aggressive approach to the game, and bagged three WPT events along with a spot at the Inaugural Walk of Fame at the WPT. Apart from poker, he is also a champion backgammon player and his acts are featured in the Going All in Poker DVD set.
