Jason Taylor officially signed with the Jets. Is this a surprise to anyone?
Something like 3.25 million dollars.
I havent found any articles on it yet but heard it announced on the radio a minute ago.
Its not a surprise since they’ve been supposedly close for about two weeks, but part of me was convinced that he was just using the Jets as leverage for negotiations with Miami.
I’m a little split on it. Obviously he’s said some awful things about the Jets and their fan base in the past, and I have my doubts as to how hard he’ll play here. However, the Jets defense seriously lacks a pass rushing specialist, and though JT is a shell of his former self, he won’t be a starter per se and almost exclusively used in passing situations.
This does a few things, as it probably shifts their focus away from drafting a rush linebacker in the first round, though I still expect them to make a move for Ricky Sapp, Eric Norwood, Koa Misi or George Selvie in the 2-3 round range.
It also may say more about their lack of confidence in Vernon Gholston than anything.
