Orlando Magic: The Team To Beat

When someone says NBA, one would immediately think of the Orlando Magic. Orlando Magic is one of the best teams in the NBA. The Magic was one of the four expansion teams started in 1989. People flock down and buy Magic tickets to watch this studded of NBA star players. Some of the more known players associated with the Magic are Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal, Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Steve Francis and Dwight Howard.

The team started out rough However, the team has made some of the more known players in the NBA. Despite being a rookie, the first timer Shaq was voted as All-Star. The title Rookie of the Year was also awarded to him in the 1992-1993 season. Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway was also one of the more known players of the Orlando Magic. With the combination of Shaq and Penny, Magics ticket holders were treated to great games as they watched the duo help the team win their first 50 win season in the franchise history. The team made it to the playoffs that year.

Magic lost its key player in the off season of 1996.Shaq became a free agent and joined the Lakers. The team was then led by a combination of Hardaway and Darrell Armstrong which gave the team one of its most exciting games against the Miami Heat. in 1999, the team lost another player when Hardaway was traded. Despite being a team of no name players and a rookie coach, the team still managed to have a 41-41 record, satisfying the Magic tickets hungry crowd.

Come the new millennium was a fresh start for the Magic. They were able to acquire Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady. Mcgrady had the chance to shine since Hill suffered from an ankle injury early in the season. Mcgrady stayed with the Magic four seasons where he became part of the All Star Team four consecutive seasons and also became part of the All NBA Team for his last two years.   

The team was again changed when a new General Manager in the person of John Weisbrod was named. He traded of McGrady after the worst season in NBA in 2003-2004. Despite a shaky start, the team managed to regain composure after Hill recovered from his injury. In the years that followed, the team acquired Galician Fran Vazquez, Travis Diener Keyon Dooling Carlos Arroyo and others as well. The team has moved to a new arena, the Amway Center and hopes that they would snag the NBA Finals win.
