UFC 121 Live Stream
UFC 121 Live Stream. The UFC’s traditional pre-event press conference is free and open to the public this week. UFC 121′s official media event takes place Wednesday at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and begins at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT local time). Scheduled to attend are UFC president Dana White, UFC 121 headliners Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez, and main-card fighters Jake Shields, Martin Kampmann, Matt Hamill and Tito Ortiz. Saturday’s UFC 121 event, which features a two-fight “UFC Prelims” broadcast on Spike TV and a full pay-per-view main card, takes place at the nearby Honda Center in Anaheim. With superstar Lesnar putting his title on the line against undefeated Velasquez, it’s expected to be one of the year’s biggest MMA events.
While much of the focus regarding Cain Velasquez’s bid for the UFC heavyweight title at this weekend’s UFC 121 event has centered around the challenger’s prospects of becoming the promotion’s first Mexican heavyweight champion, the American Kickboxing Academy product refuses to let the expectations of a nation weigh him down. Sure, Velasquez (8-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) is proud of his heritage (witness his oft-discussed “Brown Pride” tattoo), but when he faces Brock Lesnar (5-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) Saturday at UFC 121, the 28-year-old believes it will be his ethic – and not his ethnicity – that will be tested. “I definitely haven’t faced anybody with his size, his athletic ability, his power,” Velasquez said. “But I’m in a position that I want to be. The reason I started in this sport was to be in this position. I want to have that belt. This coming Saturday watch UFC 121 Live Stream.
“We have good wrestlers in the gym but nobody his size and the way that he moves,” Velasquez said. “(We have) guys that are big, definitely, but not his size.” Nevertheless, Velasquez feels confident in his chances against the massive champion. “I’m confident in the guys that we have and the guys that we brought in,” Velasquez said. One of the biggest question marks in the matchup remains Velasquez’s size. The challenger weighed just 242 pounds for his February win over MMA legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, while Lesnar traditionally cuts weight to make the 265-pound division limit.
A former All-American heavyweight wrestler at Arizona State University, Velasquez is no stranger to facing larger opponents. That’s where Velasquez’s hard work in the gym pays off in the form of a seemingly never-ending gas tank and an unmatched work rate in the the cage. “I think I’ve always had [great cardio],” Velasquez said. “It’s just always been one of my strong points. “In college wrestling, I wrestled against bigger guys, and I needed to rely on that. So I’ve always known that [my cardio] been a little bit better than others, and I’ve definitely used it to push the pace.” In some ways, the UFC 121 main event – considered by many MMA pundits to be among the most significant matchups of the year – is a classic case of irresistible force vs. immovable object. In others, it’s a nation-against-nation clash with bragging rights on the line. Witness UFC 121 Live Stream.
