Besides the implosion, was WCW a successful wrestling company?

WCW was a VERY successful company. They are the only wrestling entity to take it to vince mcmahon and his World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment. So much so that WWF/E almost had to file for bankruptcy and close up shop. I truly believe that if the AOL/TIMEWARNER merger didn’t happen, WCW would still be around today. Sure there were some bad decisions within the company, but the merger is what killed WCW overall. it wasnt bischoff,hogan, or russo. it was actually AOL that didn’t want anything to do with wrestling in that merger. ….thanks AOL (two fingers up if you know what i mean) on top of that, i dont know if many people know this, but the AOL/TIMEWARNER merger ended some time ago. i am a business major, so i watch business stuff every now and then. and when i came across that, i couldnt believe it. WCW ended for nothing.

also some thing people may not know. eric bischoff was the #1 prospect to buy WCW. He was about to get it, but when he saw it wouldnt have a cable tv deal with it, he backed out…that pisses me off b/c its like he let it die almost with no fight. saying “it was pretty much useless w/o a major network deal” my opinion on that is he should have bought the company and negotiated a deal. surely someone would have picked it up. hell, we could be watching WCW on spike tv today.

BQ: even though there was problems within the company, i think WCW would still be successful in 2010. they had some amazing talent that would have been main eventers by now.
