Which of the current Yankees players would likely sign an autograph thru mail?
I need a response from someone with the experience of any requested autograph from a current Yankee mailed back, or if you have good info as to whom should I request an autograph from in the Yankees that is most likely to mail me back with one?
Some of the ones that are known as the kindest toward fans, Mariano, Jeter, CC, get far too much fan mail for this to be practical. In the old stadium, Jeter had 2 lockers, 1 to use, 1 to store his fan mail (we all had a good laugh about that on the tour, I haven’t toured the new stadium yet, so I don’t know if he’s got the same setup there). Mariano takes a long time to sign a ball, his view is that someone cares about it and he wants his signature to be like a work of art. It’s among the nicest looking signatures in baseball, as a result. He doesn’t have time to sign something through the mail.
You might want to go with someone newer. Perhaps Joba Chamberlain. I’ve seen him sign things for fans before games and since he hasn’t been doing that well lately, you’ve got a better chance that he’ll actually read and return what you send.
It’s still not likely though, as he’s pretty popular and all the Yankees, right down to Sergio Mitre, currently on the DL, get a lot of fan mail. They also sometimes don’t like to devalue their signature by signing too many things. A lot of those signatures are sold for charity or for profit and the teams try to control the value by advising players on how much and when to sign.
Good luck.
Yankee Great autograph mailday!
